Great vote of confidence: DFG funds AudioLabs project

20.12.2022

The AudioLabs are proud to announce becoming part of the Reinhart Koselleck Program, which specializes in funding highly innovative research projects. Prof. Dr. Meinard Müller and his team will receive from the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft/German Research Foundation) a five-year grant totaling 1.25 Million Euros for their proposal titled “Learning with Music Signals: Technology Meets Education.”

Learning with Music Signals: Technology Meets Education

Over the last 20 years, the field of music information retrieval (MIR) has matured into an independent research area related to many different disciplines, including signal processing, machine learning, information retrieval, musicology, and the digital humanities. This project aims to break new ground in technology and education in these disciplines using music as a challenging and instructive multimedia domain. The project is unique in its way of approaching and exploring the concept of learning from different angles. Through its holistic approach to learning, the project aims to achieve significant advances in developing explainable hybrid models and reshape how recent technology is being applied and communicated in interdisciplinary research and education.

The Reinhart Koselleck Program

Particularly innovative research projects are often not very likely to receive funding since innovation involves a certain amount of risk. Reinhart Koselleck Projects enable outstanding researchers with a proven scientific track record to pursue higher-risk projects. With this program the German Research Foundation (DFG) supports researchers who can demonstrate exceptional achievements in their scientific fields.
